Purple

My Christmas shopping was cut short this morning due to a doctor's appointment for Audrey. On Monday she and Drew were wrestling around and she fell and bonked her head. She has always held her breath before crying, but that day as she was running towards me, she collapsed onto the floor mid-run. She woke up, looked at me, and passed out again. Longest 30 seconds of a mother's life. When she came to, her face was very purple especially around her lips. This is the fifth time this has happened in the last 8 months, but each time it gets progressively worse so we went in to see the doctor.

The verdict: Some kids hold their breath and pass out. In fact, the doctor told me now that her body has formed a habit of this, it will probably continue to happen more often and she'll most likely pass out for longer as her lung capacity grows stronger. I should just lay her down to help get oxygen to her head, keep her safe, and wait for her to wake up. Everything's fine, but it's still scary to watch your child stop breathing and turn purple. Hopefully, she'll outgrow this soon...
